In a spectacular event that celebrated beauty, service, and global unity, Opal Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand was crowned the 72nd Miss World at the grand finale held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad. This occasion marked a significant milestone for Telangana, as it hosted the Miss World Festival for the first time, and for India, it was the third time, following events in 1996 and 2024.
Opal received her crown from her predecessor, Krystyna Pyszková of Czechia, the 71st Miss World, in a moment that was met with enthusiastic applause. The newly crowned Miss World 2025 radiated confidence and purpose, embodying the core values of the pageant.
The event was co-hosted by Miss World 2016, Stephanie del Valle, alongside Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar, blending glamour with heartfelt moments. Performances by Jacqueline Fernandez and Ishaan Khatter infused an Indian essence into the evening.
During the ceremony, the Miss World Humanitarian Award was presented to Sonu Sood, recognizing his dedication to humanitarian efforts. Philanthropist Sudha Reddy was also honored as the Global Ambassador for Beauty With a Purpose.
From an initial pool of 108 contestants, 40 quarterfinalists were selected. Ethiopia’s Hasset Dereje was named First Runner-Up, while Poland’s Maja Klajda took Second Runner-Up, and the Third Runner-Up title went to Aurelie Joachim from Martinique.
Opal's Emotional Reaction to Her Victory
Following her crowning, Opal described her feelings as a blend of joy and disbelief, calling the experience 'surreal.' She expressed her emotions, particularly because her nation had waited over seventy years for this prestigious title.
She shared, 'I was incredibly excited, especially during the announcements of the contestants and their placements. When my name was called as the winner, I could hardly believe it. It is such an honor to bring home the first crown. The moment I was crowned, I thought of my family, my people, my team, and everyone who supported me. I can't wait to take this crown back to Thailand.'
After her victory, Chuangsri stated, 'Now that I hold the Miss World title, I have the opportunity to fulfill the dreams of others and make a meaningful impact.' She also expressed her fondness for India, saying, 'I was just telling my friends that I don’t want to leave this place. The hospitality, the food, and everything here make us so happy.'
The new Miss World also mentioned her willingness to explore opportunities in Bollywood if they arise.
